Exams readied for Telangana jobs

Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has finalised the exam scheme for government jobs to be notified by the Telangana State Public Service Commission. An additional paper about the Telangana movement and state formation has been added to the scheme of examination for Group 1 and Group 2 posts, as suggested by the Kadiam Srihari sub-committee. The TRS government has finalised the scheme of examinations and various categories of posts in each group. Group 1 will have 20 jobs like deputy collector, DSP, commercial tax officer etc. The preliminary objective test carrying 150 marks (and 150 questions in two and half hours) would be followed by a subjective mains exam with 1,000 marks.

The mains exam has been made lengthier by adding a 6th paper titled “Telangana movement and state formation”, carrying 150 marks and covering three sub-topics — The idea of Telangana (1948-1970), Mobilisatio-nal phase (1971-1990) and Towards formation of Telangana state (1991-2014). The history, cultural heritage and economy of Telangana would have importance in other papers of the main exam. The interview would carry 100 marks.

The same paper has also been added to Group 2. Group 2 exams would cover posts like municipal commissioner, assistant commercial tax officer, deputy tahsildar etc. The scheme of exams for Group 2 would have four papers totaling 675 marks, including an interview weighing 75 marks. It will be objective type in nature. Exams for the Group 3 and Group 4 posts will, however, not have the newly added paper. Chief secretary Rajiv Sharma said the scheme was formulated in accordance with the recommendations of the Prof. Haragopal committee and the Kadiam Srihari sub-committee. The recommendation to create a Telangana State Civil Service cadre has been ignored by the government for now.
