Telangana Entrance CETs to be conducted as per schedule in July

Amidst indications of a lockdown in Hyderabad, officials involved in conducting the Common Entrance Examinations (CETs) said it will be held in July as scheduled. "We make every effort to ensure that measures for Covid-19 are taken at testing centres. 200 to 999 students will be present at each center at any given time, "said A Govardhan, convenor, EAMCET, adding that there is no contact on the postponement of CETs, either from the higher education council or from the state government.


Similarly, M Manzoor Hussain, ECET convenor, said that they too are making preparations for the exam, scheduled for July 4. The same is true of PolyCET, set for July 1. The exam will take place from 11 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. CETs are scheduled to start in Telangana from July 1 with PolyCET and PGECET followed by EAMCET, ICET, LAWCET among other entrance exams for admission to various undergraduate and graduate courses. Student lakhs will turn up for these entrance exams. For EAMCET alone, which is scheduled for 6 July to 9 July, more than 2.2 lakh candidates have registered.


Meanwhile, candidates who have registered for various CETs are asking that exams be postponed because they believe it is not safe to attend as there is a increase in Covid-19 cases. Some have also taken to social networking sites to express questions. "In this pandemic, we don't wish to lose our lives. All specific entry exams should be postponed, "said Uday S, who has registered with EAMCET.
